Question Question about US TV Shows in Canada over the net.

.

How do you watch backdated episodes of US TV shows in Canada, without going through a proxy server or teleneting via a US based IP Address?

Some stream feeds (eg: SNL, MSNBC, etc.) you can watch from Canada, but others seem to shut you down - any way around this caveat?

.

You would have to go through a proxy or attempt to find torrent for the show. You may also want to try running your traffic through Tor <http://www.torproject.org/> and see if its anonymity subverts location discovery.

I hate this sort of crap. It's the internet for fak sakes! What's the point of blocking or restricting content to certain countries — it's counter productive and completely goes against the spirit of the medium. Perfect example of idiocy: in order to compete with youtube, MTV just released their entire library of music videos online <http://music.mtv.com>. Guess what? You can't watch them in Canada (likely other countries too) because of copyright. Hmmm... So what option does that leave others with? Oh yeah... Right back to youtube — the "competition" — sidestepped via proxy, or downloaded via torrent. Epic fail.

Hey Ian/Ferg/Koncept:

Excellent piece. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Btw, know of any free international dialing VoIP services that offer PC to phone capabilities?? If so, holla!
